Fall Campout this weekend!

Posted on Oct 15 2016 - 8:32pm

The Fall Campout is this weekend October 21-23 at Dinosaur Valley State Park in Glen Rose.  A few things to keep in mind:

  • Friday we will be travelling, arriving, and eating on our own.  Your campsite fees are taken care of (you should have paid these to the pack when you registered for the campout), but you will need to pay the park entrance fee when you arrive.  Tell the park rangers that you are with Pack 890 and they will direct you from there.  We will be sharing campsites as usual, typically two families per site.
  • All dining other than Friday night will be with your Den.
  • Please remember to bring an pumpkin, carving utensils, and a light for jack-o-lanterns.
  • Also bring your bottle rockets that we made this summer; we'll try to find a suitable place to launch while we are there.
  • Saturday night we will have campfire and cracker barrel (treats!) hosted by Den 3 and Den 9.
  • Sunday morning there will be a non-denominational worship service and we will be dismissed to stay and play in the park or head home.
  • If you have questions about what to pack, see the Camping Equipment attachment under the "Camping" link on the website.
  • Remember that all attendees need a Medical form parts A & B only.  Please give this to your Den leader.  It can be sealed in an envelope if privacy is a concern.  This is for everyone's safety in the event medical attention is required during the campout.  You can get a copy of the Medical form on the "About Us" link on the website.  If you filled one out for Twilight camp or Webelos camp that will work, just make sure your Den Leader has a copy.
  • All adults should complete Youth Protection Training.  This training is good for two years so if you did it last year you are in good shape.  Training can be done online here: http://www.scouting.org/Training/YouthProtection.aspx .  Follow the directions on the right side of the website.  This is a BSA requirement for camping trips.

We are going to have a great time next weeked!  Dinosaur Valley is one of our favorite parks to visit as a pack.  If you have any questions feel free to reach out to Brian Ferrell or Tom Crain.
